On January 26, 2009, at 7.50 hours, the adventure of the Alpine Portugal blog began.
I wrote an opening note where I "said what I intended" and from which I take the last few paragraphs:
"Alpine is above all a story of friendship and companionship around the dream of a visionary, Jean Rédélé.
Alpine was gradually "assimilated" by Renault, in a process that wasn't always very dignified, until it disapeard... waiting for better days.
In Portugal, the Alpine A110 raced in national rallies in the seventies.
But the "afición" is still alive among those who didn't forget the A110 from the range of models produced, but especially among the owners of about 30 cars in Portugal.
In this blog I want to share among all those who are not indifferent, one of the most beautiful car stories, we will bring the stories, the people, the dreams, the meetings and the images.
Take your seat, fasten your seat belts and wait for the count 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, GO. "
For 4 years we kept telling episodes of this long and sometimes tumultuous story of our favorite cars until October 31, 2013 when I decided to suspended for a while.
This break lasted until August 18, 2019.
This "return to activity" was mostly caused by the return of the ALPINE brand with the A110 Premiére Edition and the arrival of new members to the "Portuguese Alpiniste family".
First generation "Alpinistes" had to join, as I like to say, the "new generation of Alpinistes", some of them had not yet been born when the last A110 was produced in Spain 1977, and are fortunate enough to enjoy a modern A110, technologically advanced, but equally agile, fast, docile, and predictable 70's A110 dna, which stops traffic when it appears, and is, probably, one of the most beautiful cars ever produced and which, despite its nearly 60 years of age is still "to die for".
Meanwhile, the possibility arose to put the old dream of Clube Alpine Portugal on its feet, and here we've been attacking every turn "with the pedal to the metal", as if we were at Col du Turini, at the corners of Corsica, or at EN 222 arriving at Pinhão (Douro).
During all these years today we have registered 75,000 views and its origin is very curious:
Portugal - 32,370
United States -12,922
Russia - 5,896
Brazil - 4,257
France - 3,993
Germany - 3,421
Spain - 1,864
Indonesia - 439
England - 421
Ukraine - 396.
Naturally, we are happy to be a space for sharing the "Portuguese Alpiniste family" with global repercussion, which brings us added responsibilities, to me and the whole community.
So I think it is just expectable more input from everyone and in the near future, we will be making our publications in English too. We are also committed to give more prominence to the other models of the brand Alpine.
And, That's all. Congratulations to all of you and I wish you all the best to remove from your garages the most beautiful cars in the world.
See you soon "Alpinistes"
Pedro Barros Pereira
